Located in Sublette County, WY, from north of Bondurant to south of Boulder, Pinedale is a charming small town comparable to Jackson Hole— circa 1975 vibe. It feels like walking into the past when the west was still wild!
 
Throughout the early 1900s, the area was sparsely populated, and it wasn't until the 1980s that the town recorded more than 1,000 people living in the area. With its proximity to Jackson Hole, the city sees many visitors looking to spend more time outdoors or hunting. 
 
Today, the population has recently crested to 2,000, with many locals commuting for work or running small businesses in town. It's also a popular location for a second or vacation home.

As a small town, Pinedale's dining and shopping choices are limited, but there are some dazzling choices. Most options in town are locally owned and operated, and locals must go to Jackson Hole to find upscale chain stores.
 
For a rich cup of coffee and mouthwatering pastry to start the day, Baked & Wired is the hot spot in town. This bakery can whip up pizza locals take home and cook on the grill. With outdoor seating for nice weather, the Wind River Brewing Co. is a hotspot for a night out with good food and great beer. 
 
The historic downtown area provides a selection of shops to explore, many of which contain cowboy attire. The Nested West offers upscale home decor from bedding to kitchen essentials. It even has a variety of accessories, such as jewelry and socks.
 

Things to Do

 
Pinedale is the gateway to hunting in Wyoming, and there is a kaleidoscope of outdoor activities available in the area. From sunny weather to snowy days, there is always an excellent selection of outdoor activities in Pinedale. 
 
When the snow starts, White Pine Ski Resort is the hotspot to spend a day skiing or snowboarding. The resort includes ski rentals and a lodge for a hot cup of cocoa and a chance to warm up in front of the fire after a few hours on the slopes. 
 
In the summer months, everyone comes out for the Summer Soundcheck concert series to enjoy an evening of music and fresh air. Throughout the year, the Pinedale Fine Arts Council arranges an enticing selection of cultural events.
 

Schools

 
Public schools in Pinedale are served by the Sublette County School District #1. This is a small town with a little over 2,000 residents, so there is only one elementary school, one middle school, and one high school in the area. There aren't any private schools in town, although some families send their children to a private school in nearby Jackson Hole. Also, the city doesn't have any post-secondary schools, but Jackson Hole has a community college.
